Spain comes alive when they host the annual Open Air Theatre Festivals which mainly happens in summer. Towns, historical sites and gardens in Spain undergo a massive transformation with colourful decorations. It is during this time that you all can see the true feeling of Spain itself. The fests have many famous shows including some of the most important programmes in Europe. This is a great chance to see and enjoy some of the great classic performances and that too outdoor. The outdoor festival is an experience that cannot be missed out.

Art and literature

Homer, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Sophocles, all of these famous artists comes alive during the open air theatre festival. Some of the greatest plays are performed just as the way they were done originally in the past. You can enjoy all these plays with the warm weather in open-air. This festival will bring alive, once more, the cloisters, old theatre, Roman amphitheatres which are all historical monuments. You will be able to see the all the performances in these historic sites. All these historical monuments will once again maintain their original purpose bringing all the magic of the traditional theatre to the people. Merida Classical Theatre Festival

The Merida Classical Theatre Festival is celebrated with great pomes including music, dance and plays. It is held during June-August in the historical town which is in the province of Badajoz. The festival is highly dedicated to theatre and the basic core of texts is Greco-Latin. You will be able to see mostly dramatic arts but the fest also includes a film season and music performances. With a stunning setting of the Roman amphitheatre you will feel as if you are back in 1st century to watch the performances.

Almagro International Classical Theatre Festival

In this event you will be able to see series of theatre programmes held in different venues in Spain. There are also lots of children activities, street theatres, workshops, craft fairs, exhibitions held this time around.

Grec Festival

Grec festival has all to offer from dance, music, circus and theatre. The centre of the cultural event is the performing arts. Every year they provide new shows to attract the audience. Whether it is contemporary or classical performances, you will be able to view all.
