Europcar has announced that ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on 10 May, it will be providing its own grand prize.

Europcar car rental Germany and Europcar car rental UK have managed to secure 5 sets of tickets for the upcoming Grand Prix in Spain. These tickets will be offered by Europcar in a Formula 1 prize draw where any European resident aged 18 years and over, who signs up to the Europcar newsletter, will be entered to win pairs of tickets for the upcoming event.

The closing date for the draw is the 30th April. The prize consists of a pair of tickets to see the Spanish Grand Prix, which is due to take place at the physically and mechanically taxing Circuit de Catalunya of Montmelo. The tickets will provide access to see the race on the 10th May as well as the Friday practice and qualifying sessions, which will take place in Barcelona on the 8/9th May.

The race which is officially called the Gran Premio de Espana de Formula One, has changed considerably since it was first run in 1913 at Guadarrama. A regular fixture of the Grand Prix programme, 2009 marks the 19th time Barcelona has hosted the Spanish Grand at Catalunya, with its mix of high and low-speed corners.

Since Nigel Mansell won the first Catalunya based race in 1991, Michael Schumacher has proved to be the most successful driver at tackling the circuit. However amongst the current drivers, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, have all shown their abilities and what it takes to be a success at this challenging track, having each won at least once in the last four years. With the addition of World Champion Lewis Hamilton and the early form of the Brawn GP team to also contend with, the winners of the Europcar prize are assured a fantastic 2009 race experience.

The prize draw will take place under independent supervision on 1st May, where five entries will be chosen and the winners will be notified the same day.
