Costa del Sol

The popular Puerto Banus Bullring in Marbella is hosting the Davis Cup this weekend.

Davis Cup Marbella

Spain is competing against Germany in the quarter final during the 10th, 11th and 12th of July. The Davis Cup match will be both a celebration in Marbella as a social event and the best tourism promotion for Costa del Sol.  Marbella faces a great challenge and a big opportunity of being named as “The European Capital City for Sports 2009”, an event that will boost the image of the municipality and will be a vital step in the revival and promotion of the town.

During the three days of competition more than 40,000 people will attend the tournament and there will be more than 500 journalists from 300 media.  It is hoped that the Davis Cup event early this summer will provide a boost to the local tourist economy.  Accommodation in Marbella and the surrounding areas is almost fully booked, but holiday rentals are still a possibility.

As well as the Davis Cup, the area has a wealth of sporting opportunities with 16 golf courses, 4 marinas, 89 sports associations and 17 municipal facilities.  If you love sport, a holiday villa in Spain is a great option.
